ANNUAL REPORT 2008

Over the last year we have had some traumatic situations, but we are still persevering. I want to thank everyonme for their understanding and support.

At this time we want to remember Natalie McCabe, one of our children on the Level 1 course, who died suddenly from an asthma attack. The children continued their course, and have just taken their exams.

Chantelle was taken ill, and Mavis & I continued with both the childrens and adults BSL Level 1 courses.

As most of you will know, my daughter-in-law died earlier this year. Her son, my grandson, is now a bonny baby at 14lb 5oz and 2ft 2", and is doing well.

Financially, we are in the black, but need to raise funds, and we need volunteers to spread the word about our group to build our membership. Last year I did many talks, but as my house was being renovated, I have only done 3 this year. There are a few booked. I applied to the Mayor's Fund and the Round Table for help with the rent and running costs. There has been networking with many groups at CVS events.

The funding for the children's course allowed us to purchase a new computer without which it would be impossible to carry on emailing and communicating with all the various groups and organisations.

We continue with the practice sessions at the Southport Arts Centre 1.30-9pm Thursday afternoons, and at the Marian Centre on Mondays 6-8pm.

Our sincere thanks go to:

our Webmaster Tony Wright
Ian Leadbetter, our Accountant
Mavis Husbands, our Secretary and Volunteer Tutor
and
Maria Nolan, our Treasurer
